So many small milestones lead little ones to creating their own world. Finding their pretend play and making up their own stories. When I was first pregnant with Lyra I looked forward to those huge moments they put in the movies. The first steps, first words, first solid food, all those marked in milestones on paper.
But there are so many small little ones you don’t really think about until they happen. This is nothing new, our little Lyra has been creating her own renditions of books, songs, and games with her toys. But watching her now is like a little private show.
She heals up her dolls with little pieces of cartoon tape, then has a mermaid play as the doctor and she is the patient. The dentist mirror works as medicine and she finishes with an “all better.”
Seeing how her imagination roams and the fun games she creates with it is much more than any other milestone. It’s watching her find her voice. Watching her find what inspires her. Watching her take all that we have taught her to create sweet stories with her mermaids and dolls.
I know her imagination with continue to grow and soar just like everything else she has learned. Expanding with every new day and interaction. So I can watch my little girl make up more and more games and stories to enjoy.
