There are so many small moments throughout the day, but no matter where we go we start and end every day with a hug. That moment in the morning and night where we get to squeeze her in and get a squishy little kiss. I love her excitement to jump into our arms and her funny kitty rubs she trades for kisses. She nuzzles her face in close just like a kitten would.
I love the moment are hearts are brought so close. The slowdown of the day and the quiet of our love for each other. Every hug marks the start and end of amazing days with our little girl. But it’s the space between these hugs where we all grow.
In between we have all the new memories, fun crafts, days at Gamma and Pa’s house, and books to fill the day. We learn from her and teach her each day, circling her toys and listening to music. Closing each day with a movie or singalong. This is the moments between hugs.
With current circumstances we have more time than ever with our little girl, both of us working from home and no classes or activities to go to. Our day is filled with family time and teaching a three year old in little bursts. Every day comes with new challenges and triumphs and is filled with all the best from the best little girl.
We play and craft before we snack and sing. Laughing about Pete’s booty and showing off our creativity with a new road or flower garden. We finish off the day with our books on her bedroom floor before she has a sip of water, turns on her nightlight and gives us each a hug. The hug that completes the day.
After she’s asleep (or playing in her bed) we laugh about the events of the day or talk about what we should have done different during a tantrum. But we look forward to the next morning and our next hug. Then we wake up and do it all over again. Staring with a hug then enjoying the day and watching her continue to explore her world, to grow.
The days truly do fly, but the hugs are the perfect book ends.
The perfect way to seal each day and start a new one.
